Weiming Lake Ice Rink Opens

Peking University, December 27, 2023: The best time of the year for outdoor skating has finally arrived in Yanyuan as winter intensifies after Beijing's heavy snowfall, transforming Peking University's iconic Weiming Lake into an ice rink. On Dec. 26, 2023, the Weiming Lake Ice Rink officially opened, attracting PKU community members and visitors to hit the ice for wintertime leisure.
At PKU, ice skating on the frozen Weiming Lake is a popular winter recreational activity, offering a distinctive and charming experience to skaters. The surrounding snow-covered scenery, dense trees, and the Boya Pagoda create a picturesque backdrop for gliding and twirling on the reflective, smooth surface.
Ice skating can benefit our health and help us form ties and make new friends. With some practice and safety precautions, both seasoned skaters and beginners can have the best opportunity to enjoy this seasonal sport. Come and join us!
